Hard Anodized Aluminum Product

Modified on: Tue, Oct 29, 2024 at 3:10 PM

What is a hard anodized aluminum product?

Hard anodized aluminum is regular aluminum that has gone through an electrochemical process that changes the surface of the metal by adding a layer of oxidation. This layer hardens the aluminum, making it twice as hard as stainless steel, and gives product its signature dark color.

Hard anodized aluminum cookware can withstand high temperatures, doesn’t scratch easily, and is naturally more nonstick than stainless steel cookware (though it is still recommended to use oil or butter when cooking to ensure easy food release).

Cooking with High Heat

Modified on: Tue, Oct 22, 2024 at 5:23 PM

Can this product be used with high heat?

The use of high heat is not recommend for most cookware. Continuous high heat may damage pots and pans that have a nonstick coating, resulting in a higher chance of food sticking and discoloration of the cooking surface.

To avoid damaging your pans, we recommend cooking on low to medium heat. Because our products conduct heat extremely well at lower temperatures, high heat is not needed to brown or sear foods. To get the char you want, simply preheat the pan on medium heat for at least one minute before adding food to its surface.

Overheating pans will void your product warranty.

That said, some cookware is better at tolerating high-seat cooking. Always refer to your product’s use & care guidelines before cooking.

Glass Lid Shatter

Modified on: Tue, Oct 22, 2024 at 5:01 PM

Why did my glass lid shatter?

Our glass lids are made of tempered glass, which is an extremely durable and safe material. That said, there is a common misconception that tempered glass lids are “unbreakable.”

There are a few ways that tempered glass lids can become damaged. Over time, small scratches caused by cleaning the lid with a scouring pad or harsh abrasives, or other nicks caused by utensils and cooking, can weaken the tempered glass. These scratches can lead to spontaneous or delayed breakage, in which the lid appears to explode or implode for no apparent reason. Extreme temperature change, such as running a hot lid under cold water, can also result in glass lid breakage.

We use tempered glass lids for our products not because it is indestructible, but because it breaks more safely than ordinary glass. Tempered glass is designed to fracture into small, relatively harmless pieces when broken, as opposed to the jagged shards that ordinary glass may break into.

If your tempered-glass lid has broken, we’d be happy to send you a new one. Please contact our Customer Service Department via this website by clicking ‘submit a question’ or live chat. When you create an account and submit an issue with us, please be sure to share everything you know about the pot that needs a new lid, including the brand, line, size, and product type.

Cleaning Nonstick Product

Modified on: Tue, Oct 22, 2024 at 5:46 PM

How do I clean my nonstick pan?

We recommend washing nonstick cookware by hand, using a mild dish soap, warm water, and a soft nylon brush or nylon scrub pad. This will remove food and grease particles that may burn when your pan is reheated.

If food remains on the nonstick surface, boil a mixture of two parts water and one part white vinegar in your pan on medium heat for 5–10 minutes to dislodge food particles. Let stand until cooled, then wash with warm, soapy water, and a soft nylon brush. Rinse and dry.

Even if your nonstick product is labeled as dishwasher safe, washing it by hand helps it last much longer. Extremely hot water and harsh detergents will cause cookware coatings (including nonstick) to deteriorate faster than if they are washed by hand.

Degreasers can be used to clean oil residue from nonstick cookware. We have tested the following brands and they all work well: Simple Green, LA’s Totally Awesome Orange All Purpose Degreasers, Oil Eater, and Easy Off. After using degreaser, be sure to wash and rinse your nonstick cookware thoroughly before cooking with it again.

*Do not use steel wool or any abrasive cleansers when cleaning nonstick cookware.
